About Us
🌿 Welcome to Fields Farm Nature Play & Therapy CIC! 🌿
We’re Charlotte Cresswell and Kate Heywood—two working mums with a shared love for nature, a passion for helping others, and a big dream.
As qualified social workers with over 15 years of experience in health and social care, our careers have been dedicated to supporting older adults, mental health, and dementia care. But along the way, we realized something was missing—fulfillment.
The stress of our demanding roles took a toll on our own mental health, and as mums to six children (aged 2 to 16!), we knew we wanted something more meaningful—for us, for our families, and for our community.
Fields Farm Nature Play & Therapy CIC was born from this shared vision: to create a space where people can reconnect with nature, find peace, and experience the healing power of the outdoors.
Whether it’s through therapeutic support, animal connection, or simply exploring the wonders of nature, we’re here to bring something special to our little corner of the world.
Thank you for joining us on this journey—we can’t wait to share it with you! 💚

A little more about the Farm
Nestled in the charming semi-rural village of Whaplode, Spalding, Fields Farm is a picturesque 3-acre smallholding with a rich history dating back to the 1860s. Once the original farmhouse for the surrounding fields, the property now stands as a serene haven lovingly cared for by the Heywood family, who moved here in 2021 in search of a peaceful lifestyle close to nature.
The Heywood’s—Stewart, Kate, and their daughters Hallie and Annie—made the big move from Essex with a dream of raising their family in a wholesome, natural environment. Before arriving at Fields Farm, the Heywood’s didn’t own a single animal. Fast forward to today, the farm is bustling with life and laughter as they work to restore the old property, nurture the land, and share it with an array of friendly animals.
Since moving in, the Heywood family has poured their hearts into bringing the farm back to life. They’ve worked tirelessly and continue to do so to save and restore the original outbuildings, carrying out repairs and maintenance to honour the farm’s history while creating a space where animals and nature can thrive.
Today, Fields Farm is home to a delightful collection of animals, each with their own personality:
-
A small flock of chickens, ducks, and geese
-
Three stunning peacocks
-
Rabbits and guinea pigs
-
Two cheeky goats, Eddie and Patsy
-
Two lovable sheep, Bah-Bah and Black Sheep
-
Seven handsome alpacas: Simon, Charlie, Colin, Robbie, George, Sammy, and Baby Dave
A Space for Nature Play & Therapy
Fields Farm isn’t just a family home; it’s a place for others to connect with nature, unwind, and experience the therapeutic benefits of the great outdoors. Surrounded by lush greenery and a sense of history, the farm offers opportunities for nature play and interaction with the animals, making it a unique and meaningful destination for families, individuals, and groups seeking peace and connection.
Fun Fact!
Before setting down roots in Lincolnshire, the Heywood family hadn’t ventured into animal care—but their journey over the last few years proves how much joy and fulfilment comes from living close to nature.
Whether you're drawn to the charm of the animals, the history of the farm, or the soothing countryside atmosphere, Fields Farm is a testament to the beauty of embracing a simpler, more nature-connected way of life.
